Who Benefits From This Course

So you know how most people just kind of float through their careers taking whatever the next opportunity is in front of them? Unfortunately, that next opportunity isn’t necessarily the one they’d have chosen for themselves, and it doesn’t always lead to a more fulfilling career. Well, our course not only provides the map to help navigate your career path as a whole, but also provides the tools to create the best opportunities for yourself along the way.

Whether you’re looking to land your first job, planning to transition to a next position within or outside your current company, or hoping to change careers entirely, this course is for you!

Hi, and welcome to Career Navigation. Thanks for joining us!

My name is Scott Kuethen. My life purpose has been to help people find meaningful work and find meaning in the work that they do.

Amtec, the company that I’ve done that work at for three-and-a-half decades, is a sixty-year-old professional recruiting company. We place people throughout most of the United States, over 1,000 people a year. These candidates range from individual contributors to supervisors and managers, all the way up to the C Suite. In this course, I and my team will be sharing with you what we’ve learned about candidates, their careers, about companies, how they hire, and what they look for when they hire.

Anyone who’s really determined can usually find a job. But since you’re taking this course, you’ve probably realized that finding the right job, a job that is a good fit for you, takes some thought and effort. Finding a job is also challenging because employers are looking for candidates ideally matched to the job and their organization. They want people who will be engaged in their work.

When you’re emotionally invested in your work, you’re more focused, productive, and happy. You’re making your highest contribution. And while you’re highly engaged in your job, you’re learning and growing more than at any other time. When you enjoy your job, your employer also reaps the benefit because your contribution will be of greater value to them. This eventually finds its way to their bottom line, which the corporation needs in order to grow. It’s a win-win!

Now, you could accept a job for many reasons. It might be close to home, or your friend works there, or the pay and benefits are good. But those reasons might not be enough to keep you deeply connected with your job. Did you know that more than 85% of workers worldwide are not engaged in their jobs? The fact is, your work should be satisfying and meaningful to you. If you’re like most, you’ll be spending more time working than doing anything else in your life, so you might as well be highly engaged in it. That’s why we take our mission seriously: “Helping companies build high-performing teams and helping people find meaningful work.” And that’s why we created this course.

We’re so excited to show you how to start making proactive career choices, to think about where you’re headed, and be intentional about where you’d like to be. In Career Navigation, you’ll create a career scorecard to help you maximize both your future career and opportunities right where you’re at today.

You’ll also receive other practical tools and samples of things like cover letters and resumes to help you navigate your career and target opportunities that are uniquely right for you. You’ll learn how to create an effective LinkedIn profile, discover the secrets of networking, learn how to prepare for an interview, follow up afterward, manage an offer, negotiate, launch into your new position, and so much more. Within each section of this course, you’ll have the opportunity to do homework exercises to develop your thoughts and cement what you’ve learned. You’ll receive recommendations for books and assessments along the way, as well.

As with any learning tool, the more you put into this course, the more you will get out.

Hey, we’re really happy to be taking this important journey with you! Now that you know what to expect, let’s get started!
